As each new year rolls around, everybody fills their minds with lots of unintentional lists. Lists of things that made the past year great along with those that made it not so great. These lists are the cause of a new year's resolution which, if you are anything like me, can be a struggle to hold on to. Here is a list of 6 Kindness based resolutions worth keeping to make 2019 the kindest year yet!
1. Smile With Purpose!
Much like a picture, a smile can be worth a thousand words! In 2019, strive to smile with a purpose! When you smile, smile to light up the room around you. A little smile can make a big difference in the attitudes of those around you.
2. If You Think it, Say it!
I have often times found myself thinking a complement about someone in my mind but for some reason not actually saying it! The reason for this is unexplainable but once noticing it I started sharing those thoughts! If you like somebody's hat, tell them! It takes such little effort and can make their day! Try to start sharing those positive thoughts at least once a day!
3. Set an Act of Kindness Goal
In 2019, try to do more acts of kindness! Set a goal! Weather it is once a day or once an hour! If you want reminders or ideas for acts to do, join Kindness Reminds! December has been a super busy month and due to that, Kindness Reminds has been a bit sporadic but here at Project Kindness OK our new year’s resolution is to make 2019 filled with 365 kindness reminders! Kindness Reminds is back to every day and you don't want to miss it! Text @gfe3eg to 81010 to sign up for daily messages!
4. Reconnect With Old Friends
In 2019, reconnect with some old friends! Send a text, make a call, or invite them out to coffee just to catch up! They might have changed a lot since you last saw them! Try to reconnect with 12 old friends in 2019!
5. Help Out in a Community Project
Help out your neighborhood or community by participating in a Community Project (like planting flowers in a park with a group or organization) or do something individually (like pick up litter around town with friends). Do one of these projects near the beginning of 2019 and you may like it more than you had ever thought!
6. Be Kind to Yourself
Out of everything, allow time to be kind to yourself and don't feel guilty about it. Take time every week for yourself doing your favorite hobby! Sew, bake, read, take time to do what makes you happy, even if that means doing nothing, Be kind to yourself! You deserve it.
With that being said, Happy New Year from Project Kindness OK and thank you so much for a 2018 filled with kindness!
