Article By Annie Brown As COVID-19 changes the way our country operates, one boy in Maryland is ensuring that members of his community have everything they need during this time of need. Cavanaugh, a first grader, along with his anti-bullying non-profit Cool & Dope are providing food and goods for those in need! Earlier this week, we got the honor to speak with Cavanaugh about the abundance of kindness he is showing his community! Cavanaugh's mission to provide for others during this time sprouted from simply helping his grandmother. Cavanaugh shares, "I made care packs for my grandma because she has asthma and I don't want her to catch the Corona Virus.". Upon this he had a thought, if she is in need there must be others as well! He continued on and made 78 care packages for both his grandmother and other senior citizens in his area. Along with this, he helped prepare 31 meals! These initial care packages were purchased with money he had been saving from Christmas and Birthdays for three years, ultimately adding up to $600. Once his mission of kindness began to spread, he began receiving donations allowing him to provide 90 students in his community with food! Word of his kind acts began to spread and before long, 7-year-old Cavanaugh found himself managing his own community parnty serving his community with food and essential supplies!
